Wideband Multimedia is in the House! May 24, 2002 BE LABS' Wireless Multimedia System (WMS) is a within-the-home, Ultra Wideband (UWB), wireless delivery system for multiple high quality streaming video, data, and audio sources. Commenting on the importance of the tests, company President Uriel Berchin stated "This is a major milestone. We successfully transmitted a DVD-quality video signal through concrete walls and steel girders in a residential environment, wirelessly, from a distance of approximately 150 feet." In addressing the problems others have had in attempting and failing at this accomplishment, Mr. Berchin noted, "Due to BE LABS' patented technology, there was no degradation detected in the signal at any time. We had numerous other pieces of electronic equipment operating at the same time in an effort to determine if there was any signal interference; there was none. Based upon this successful test, we are confident that we can successfully transmit an HDTV-quality signal, within a range of 300 feet without the requirement of line-of-sight, achieving similar results." WMS was developed to replace the aging wired set-top boxes for cable and satellite TV services. Additionally, it will provide support for high speed Internet Access and cordless phones on one transparent platform. As such, the system is an all-encapsulating multimedia gateway and home/office center, adaptable to single or multiple unit dwellings. This Smart-Card controlled system will allow for multiple wireless TVs, up to 300ft.away, within any given structure, allowing each TV set to access a main picture and PiP (Picture-in-Picture). This ability extends beyond the Analog and Digital standards of the present (NTSC, PAL, SECAM, DVB, etc.) to full support of the HDTV digital broadcasting standards of the near future. WMS supports VoD (Video on Demand), Interactive TV (WebTV), telephony system, VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol), etc. WMS requires no changes or additions to existing infrastructure, (cable, satellite, fiber optics, etc.), and simultaneously supports all communication standards (DSL, POTS for phone and modem services). According to the Company's financial advisor, Shimmy Weiss (shimmyw@belabs.com), "the success of the Company is dependant upon receiving a positive response from investors who are currently reviewing the business plan. We have yet to receive a commitment for funds from 'the right partners', which will take us to the next crucial level." |
